3 weeks ago and still to this day, PC Tuneup (PCT) fires up when it feels like. I asked Support how I might disable it when I need the resources that PCT grabs and basically, takles over all resources. He told me I would have to uninstall PCT, reboot, use my computer, shut it down, then reboot and re-install PCT. Yes. That is what I was told I have to do.
Today, AVG downgraded it's GUI again. AVG changed the colours, the icons, and now there are TWO "Internet Security" in the right-click menu from the task bar. Unfortunately, the new version of Internet Protection is so good, it blocks everything! I cannot use the Internet at all when AVG Internet Security and AVG Internet Security are both enabled. I would upload a screenshot, but even this page is very outdated and won't allow them.
I tried re-booting, I contacted my ISP and we spent a lot of time trying to find the problem, until I realized, after my testing it, that if I disable Internet Security, I can get on the Internet! Yes - you read right. For the $100.00 AVG wants for my renewal, I can do the same thing just by pulling the cable out of the NIC. Same result.
So, I called '''support''', those guys that want to charge me a fortune to fix YOUR junkware! The fellow I spoke suggested I uninstall AVG Ultimate. It's NOT Ultimate anymore, It's not even Zen anymore. I have no idea what AVG is calling it today, but I call it RANSOMWARE. That is, if I pay AVG to fix the 'problem', I can get on the Internet without having to uninstall AVG. Brilliant !!!
The fellow, as all 'support' does, offered to have an "expert" access my computer. =The last time I let an AVG support person access my computer, when done, tried to restart my computer. I gad toi reinstall Windows, my programs, and waved goodbye to all my email, docs, pics and so on. NO ONE from AVG gets on my computer. Why? If your software can't run properly, do you think I'll trust your "expert" - again?
