If I open the window using the arrow next to the image icon it allows me to click a green circle to disable AVG - I'd been right-clicking the larger icon - bottom of image next to the word icon. This answers the problem on the 8.1 machine - thanks. We'll try repairing the application on my husband's Windows ten machine. Thanks for your help.
Hello Pat,
I'm sorry to hear about this. If you're unable to find AVG icon in windows 10 system tray, then please go to control panel > program and features > select AVG Antivirus free > click change and repair the program once. After that, please reboot your computer once, Right click on AVG system tray icon and toggle the On/Off slider to disable AVG protection temporarily.
Best regards,
Alok.
I'm running free AVG on Windows 8.1 and want to disable it temporarily. You used to be able to do this by right-clicking the tray icon and getting a drop down menu. This is now not offered. I've been round the houses in the AVG interface without success. My husband runs Windows 10 and doesn't even seem to have an icon in the tray although he can access the interface. Can anyone help?
We have problems on two machines. On my 8.1 desktop right clicking the system tray icon only brings up two options: unpin this program from taskbar and AVG (i.e. takes you into the main interface). We'll try repairing the program on my husband's machine. Any thoughts on the first (8.1) problem?
Pat, please share a screenshot of the AVG system tray icon you're referring to on your windows 8.1 computer to assist you further. You can check the following link to see the instructions about taking the screenshot (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot). You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Best regards,
Alok.
