DNS fails when AVG Internet Security is enabled

Hello Dave,

We will work together to sort this out.

Please change the DNS settings on your computer and check if that fix the issue.

Follow the steps from this link http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Changing-your-DNS-settings-when-AVG-Secure-VPN-cannot-establish-an-internet-connection to update to "Google DNS" and check if you are able to access Internet without any disconnections.

On my Windows 10 desktop computer, running AVG Internet Security, I can browse the internet with Google Chrome and several other browsers.  But if I browse to Facebook and login, Facebook hangs after displaying a page or so, and then my internet connectivity is cut off (DNS error), for all browsers and all websites. If I then disable AVG, my internet connectivity comes back (including connectivity to Facebook, as well as all other websites). I then have to re-start the computer in order to re-enable AVG protection.  But then I can't login in Facebook without repeating the DNS problem and loss of internet.  (This problem occurs only on my desktop—not on my laptop or my wife's desktop—even though all of these computers run Windows 10 and AVG Internet Security, and are all up to date.)

Has anyone else run into this problem?  Why does it happen only for Facebook, and only if AVG Internet Security is enabled?  Is there any way to re-enable AVG after disabling it temporarily (other than restarting the computer)?

Thanks for the suggestion.  So now I've tried those steps: In fact, I tried all four suggested DNS server addresses.  They all fail in the same way.  Any other ideas?

Yay!   Uninstalling and re-installing AVG Internet Security worked!  Thanks for the quick replies and good advice.

Thank you for trying it, Dave.
We'd request to uninstall AVG Internet Security and re install it to resolve the issue.

You're welcome.
