Does AVG VPN affect internet speed while gaming?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using AVG Secure VPN and was wondering how much of an impact it normally has on gaming performance.

When connected to a VPN, is a small increase in ping expected even when using a nearby server? Are there any recommended settings or server choices in AVG VPN that can help keep latency as low as possible while gaming?

Would be interested to hear what settings other users are using.

Yes, a small ping increase is normal with a VPN since your traffic takes an extra route. For gaming, I’d use the nearest available AVG VPN server and avoid servers that are heavily loaded. A wired connection and disabling the VPN when it isn’t needed can also help keep latency down. ㅤ
