Does the VPN cause a drain on my android phone battery?

I'm afraid but you are probably the first person to report this. Could you uninstall AVG Secure VPN app and monitor the battery consumption?

I installed the AVG VPN recently, and ever since, my phone batter has been draining rapidly.  Is it the VPN, and if so, is there a setting I can tweak to fix it?
