Doubleverify threat?

Hi Manusha,

Are you getting a pop-up from AVG whenever you browse or accessing the website?

Please share us the screenshot of the threat message by clicking on see details.

You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on "Answer" & then click on the "Image" [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Manusha, thank you for the screenshot.
Possibly, this could be a false detection.  False positives may appear from time to time with any antivirus software as a result of new virus definitions added to the program's database.

It would be better to assist you if you could help us with some information. May I know the version of AVG program installed on your PC (Open AVG > Menu > About)? Are you still getting the pop-up occur while accessing websites in all browsers?

If you think it is a legit website, please submit a sample in AVG Whitelisting form. When you submit files to the AVG Threat Lab, a group of analysts review the websites for malicious or unwanted activity. Websites that are both free from malware and meet our guidelines can be whitelisted.

Eventually, you can add the website in exceptions as mentioned here (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Antivirus-scan-exclusions) and continue surfing the internet.

I'm getting them too. My guess is it's a false hit.

[Content removed] Mostlikely you are hitting a website that has ads inserted and trying to download cookies to your browser. The website itself may be legitimate, but most site make there money by having ads on the sites. AVG is preventing this from happening. It is doing its job. You can certainly go in and exclude AVG from scanning for [website removed] so you dont get the "annoying" popups, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the Antivirus software that you are paying for.

I am getting the same thing it started yesterday for this double verify. I am on my browser based work site, or trying to just go from one website to another and this thing pops up constantly. It's annoying. I have no idea why, all of a sudden this is occuring and it's occuring every time I go to ANY website. ALL the websites I go to are legitimate websites. I suspect this is an ADVERTISING ploy.  You all at AVG tech support probably dont' even know what the marketing people are doing. They are inserting code for this to occur to make people believe you have a threat to push for paid subscription. AVG is notorious for harassing on a regular basis to get the paid version and now they're going to switch us all over to Avast for the free version. I'm sure we'll still be harassed constantly to upgrade. But you got to put up with something to get something for free. Nothing is actually free.

I've recently been having AVG block vast.doubleverify.com and it's categorized as a phishing program.
I've tried looking for any recently installed programs that might be the cause, but I can't find anything, unless I am missing something. How would i go about removing it?

AVG still has not answered what we should do when we get this "double verify" warning. Should we NOT go to the warned-against site? Should we instead IGNORE the warning? What should we do?

Why does AVG refuse to answer this? This has been an ongoing issue for many years now.
