Downloading is getting stopped at 75%

Hi Bala,
Thanks for the guidance. This worked well for my XP OS Dell.
Note that after the remover tool completes you may need to reboot more than once.
Reason that I had to reload is your latest update, 1.171.3.211 (April 2017) caused my old installation to disable computer protection. You could manually turn it on and it says enabled for a moment but then turns itself back off.
I noticed that had 2 copies of AVG protection in the control panel:
AVG: Used Frequently
AVG Control Panel: Used Infrequently
AVG Control Panel: Used Frequently.
So following another troubleshooting thread from you guys I clicked on the frequent version, clicked on remove and had the option to uninstall or repair. I clicked on repair. It appeared to complete but the repair screen sat at 100% for over an hour. That is when I found your thread.
Note that the new installation sat for over 15 minutes at 78% complete but I could see that the hard drive was working overtime so I figured it was still proceeding.
Suggestion: Have an option to show progress (files being created, moved, etc.) to let us know if the process has halted or its still working.
Thanks,
PR.

Hello Nick,

Are you trying to install the AVG Protection Free program?
Please try using our AVG remover tool once and then install AVG Protection.
1) To download AVG remover tool, please click on this link: http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
2) Run the downloaded file and follow the onscreen instructions.
3) Restart your PC when the restart option is displayed on the remover tool screen.
NOTE: Once you have logged into your PC after the restart, please go to C: drive and delete the "AVG REMOVER" folder manually.

Please feel free to contact us if you need any assistance.

Whenever I try to install the protection, it always gets stuck at 75% and will not go any further. I don't know if this has happened to anyone else but it might just be me.

Hello Nick,
We understand your concern. We suggest you to completely remove and reinstall AVG and check if that fix the issue. You need to reinstall to upgrade to latest version.
Thank you
