DPC_Watchdog_Violation

Merelyn, this error may occur due to the iastor.sys driver, which is not fully compatible with Windows 10. Please follow the steps below to resolve this issue.

- Right-click the Start icon and select Device Manager.
- Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
- Select the controller with “SATA AHCI” in its name (such as Standard SATA AHCI Controller).  To verify that you’ve selected the right controller, right-click the controller, select Properties, click the Driver tab, and then Driver Details.  Verify that iastor.sys is a listed driver, and click OK.
- From the Driver tab, select Update Driver…
- Select Browse my computer for driver software.
- Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
- Select Standard SATA AHCI Controller.

Click Next, then Close, and then restart your computer.

As mentioned above the computer restarts itself everytime. I will reiterate the above message. I can work on it for about 10- 15 mins then the blue screen appears with message DPG_Watchdog_Violation, then the computer restarts again. This is just a continuous process … I have checked drivers and they are up to date
Thanks -i Would appreciate any help you can give me to stop this happening every day

HI - This blue screen with the above words keeps appearing on my computer every time I use it, and shuts down and reboots - extremely annoying.  I have tried a lot of things mentioned on the web to try and cancel this Violation but nothing works, was hoping one of the experts at AVG could help, I have done the AVG scan, AVG tune up (which I do regularly) but this has not helped, can anyone please tell me how I can get rid of this annoying instance - I can only use my computer for about 5-10 mins before it shuts down and restarts again.  Thank you so much

Merelyn, this usually is caused due to out dated drivers.
Since you mentioned that all the drivers are up to date, please contact Microsoft for further assistance.

Thank you for the screenshot.

Are you able to login into your computer?

We could see that the blue screen is at 25%. Is that completed?

Keep us posted

THank you please find pic attached of the blue screenm before the computer closes and then restarts, very frequently now. DPC_watchdog_violation screen

THanks Avinash, I have done this previously but did again as you requested, however I am running Windows 8.1 not 10.  After going through all of the steps the only driver available for me to choose was system32/DRIVERS/storahci.sys

Any other suggestions please?
