DRep and AVG not acting on explicit exceptions

Hello Nedim,

I understand how difficult this is for you. Please let me know if you submitted the sample of this exe file to AVG https://www.avg.com/submit-sample for analysis. If not, please send a sample of this file to AVG for analysis. We will check the same and if found genuine, it will be added to AVG global whitelist.

For the benefit of others, I now have spent over 12 hours on this, with repeated "solutions" by various AVG representatives, but without resolution. White-listed exceptions are blocked and it appears that every .exe build that is free of infection is being erroneously reported by AVG as containing "DRep" and AVG aborts the connection without even trying to quarantine the file(s). This is ridiculous and completely unacceptable. AVG have provided no resolution and I have to question the effectiveness of their software. I surely will not be renewing my subscription when it soon comes up for renewal, unless AVG get responsible and fix this nonsensical erroneous reporting!

I am starting with a completely new topic because I have received no substantive help at this point and the previous topic thread was complicated by pop-up issues, which is not my concern at this time. If someone wants to 'yell' at me because this is repetitive, then do so after you have provided a solution to this issue. The issue is that my own builds (.exe files) are being blocked from being downloaded from my own server. I keep getting the "…it was infected with DRep" and "We've safely aborted connection on…". I do not see how that is possible. Nevertheless, I spent a considerable amount of time doing precisely what I was told to do by Bhuvaneswari Vairavan of AVG: 1) 'repaired' my installation and re-booted, 2) added my domain to the exceptions list. None of these resolved the problem. The added domain was still being blocked. I then spent time while a technician, at the instigation of the AVG representative, remotely accessed my computer. After half an hour, he or she told me it would be another 30-45 minutes to continue with free access to my system! By then I had no confidence that the person was even able to resolve the problem (and why should it be through remote access: I cannot see how the problem is on my computer when others are reporting the same) and ended the session.

I am asking AVG to provide a solution to these two issues, now, without the ridiculous infringement on my time and the privacy of my system. Surely you can deal with false DRep reporting and getting your software to honour exceptions that we add to the list. If you cannot, I have to question the fundamental competence of your system. And, please, do not "apologize for the inconvenience". Such 'apologies' are disingenuous and insulting; just provide me a solution and I will consider it job done.

Hello Nedim,

I understand how difficult this is for you. We have already escalated your request to the senior team. They are analyzing the log files and contact you via email with a solution.

Nedim,
To analyze your issue and further, I need to submit your concern to our senior technicians along with other diagnostic logs.
I have sent you an email with steps on how to collect and upload the data required for analyzing your issue. Please check your inbox and spam/junk folder as well.

Karthikeyan,

Although I appreciate your taking the time to respond, you have not helped at all.
1) The site you offer for sending in a file for analysis does not work. I spent over half an hour trying to upload a file and the site either failed to respond or simply went back to the reporting page with no indication that the report had been submitted. Please fix your reporting site or provide some other way to deal with this.
2) You have not addressed the other critical part of the problem, your software not honouring exceptions added by the user. Please explain how we are to add exceptions if your software will not use them.
