Hi, I'm not sure where the bug report section is so I'll leave this here.
I'm reporting on a bug that had occurred to me yesterday while using AVG.
OS: Windows 8.1 (x64)
Platform: Laptop/Notebook
Radeon ATI Gfx/CPU
Other Security Software: Comodo, Windows AV/Firewall
Steps taken:
1. AVG required restart - Postponed to 24 hours.
2. Manual Shutdown
3. Started back up again after waking up in the morning.
4. Error occurs.
Error shows 0xc0000255, unable to access required device. My hardware was functional since my Dual-Boot Linux partition was able to bootup just fine. Ran OEM diagnostics, Mem test, HD test, everything a-okay. Spent a while to backup my important data onto my Dual-Boot partition. Restarted computer, error shows: cannot access critical system driver - avgboota.sys. I go back into Linux to rename the drivers to .old, hoping my system would overlook them. No luck. Go back into BIOS settings and disable Secure Boot and enable Legacy Support. Still error occurs. Create a Windows recovery device, but recovery does not boot up due to the same error. Maybe a bootblocker, but doubtful. I ended up having to do a complete wipe and reinstall my OS. Would post more info, but still working on reinstallation.
