Drowning in Ads, how to disable?

In The Options: Advance Options: Appearence, you can set the frequence to as little as,Once every 3 days(free) or Never(Pro).

However even this will get very annoying, and I really hope they'll stop.

I am giving them until their next update to resolve this. After that, if this is still an issue after their update, they will loose a loyal user of over 10 years. Popping up and becoming the dominate focus also makes your keyboard respond to that dominate window. This has caused way more issues for me than what any amount of loyality can make up for. We are loyal because of it being a product that we want. Between the spam of ads that can be very harmful to a person's desktop experience, to the announcement of AVG selling user data to outside companies for profit. AVG is not the program that I fell in love with so many years ago.

Same old same old…I’m here ‘cos I got sick of the pop-ups for stuff and I am quite capable of looking for it when I need it by myself.
So just in case AVG hasn’t suss out yet its ‘killing’ its faithful customer base…….

Really...AVG are going to continue with uncontrollable random pop-ups?  Gosh this is a marketing technique that has a clear history of really annoying your regular customers of quality / dependable products.  It is only used for one-off market cream skimming and vanity one-off fashion or spot deals, you know those fickle just do it urges that as posted before is a terrible behavoiur pattern to create when dealing with viruses ad-ware malware all those wiggle popups etc. Certainly not a technique quality product producers would use…its a bit like the old push in your door vacuum cleaner salesmen.  I only posted to help AVG focus ‘cos it would be shame for them to go down-hill.

Here is how I found out about AVG: I was advised to go AVG by other computer users at my place of work…ie word of mouth due to good service / experience.  These pop-ups are going to really degrade that form of “free” but very effective advertising.  The next step I took was to research the web what other people thought…well look at all these posts!!!  That’s going to speak loud and clear of a new but not desirable reputation for AVG.
I personally would only advise customers when they actually upgrade, or download a new AVG product that there are other helpful products from AVG and list / links / enticements where / how to get them…something your customer can bypass but could be interesting.  This is the time for thinking do I / don’t I need…people don’t need to be randomly ‘got at’ all year round.   We like AVG don't wreck it now.
Poor show so far AVG…sorry I too will have to make a call if this ad pop-up stuff continues…especially in the paid versions!

I am also looking how to remove this very irritating add. It is indeed disappointing that AVG follows this strategy to lure customers into their basket. Even more disappointing is that AVG still refuses to provide a solution and explain why they do it instead of removing it. WE JUST DO NOT WANT THIS POPUP!!!

AVG must be out to scare their users! I feared the worse as that so looked like an adware popup (having the logo of a company on something means nothing - one can copy and use the AVG logo yourself within seconds).

It's a bad idea to advertise through pop-ups in this way as it will get people used to seeing similar ads on their computer and thinking nothing is wrong when an actual malicious one appears.

Hello Jessica and Trevor,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Many of our users find these offers useful: they rely on them to upgrade to our higher levels of protection.
By doing so, they help fund your free version of the protection.
We also handpick offers from our other products or those of partners we feel can add to your security or digital experience.
We have already escalated this to our concern team and they are working on this to find an alternative method.

Hi,  I have stumbled upon this thread after a search prompted by a similar pop up ad that appeared on my wife's Win 8.1 laptop offering to 'et your PC ready for the hlidays'.  I was unsure whether the ad was genuine.

Having dismissed the ad I am now writing to ask if it will reappear or does it only appear once on any single PC?  I would like to trial the PC Analyzer program.  Can I get the ad back?

Thanks

Adware nonsense

I have AVG AntiVirus "Free" Edition 2015 running on the Win10 x64 platform.

Well, I was about to upgrade from AVG Free to the paid-for version to stop the ads; glad I came here first.

Goodbye, AVG.  And good luck with the Business campaign!

I guess you will lose another user. Advertising is one thing, knowing when to stop a campaign is another. Maybe you should consult with your marketing team. Not cool.

I also arrived here looking for a way to block these annoying pop ups. Pissing off your customers is not a cool way to get more business from them. Have you been taking lessons from Trump!? Another customer bites the dust AVG! Bye bye.

Ya'll just lost a paying customer.  This is insane I have paid for AVG for years and to start this bs ad ware campaign that can not be shut off.  I will never buy AVG again

With this latest (2015) version of AVG I'm being inundated with ads, both on Win7 as well as after the upgrade to Win10.  I've already disabled the toolbar nonsense (thank you for hijacking my browser, no one likes to make decisions on their own) but they're still popping up in the lower-right corner.  Today it said I should upgrade my AVG to get ready for school (!?!?!?).

Should I just disable the GUI entrely?  Switch to an competing ad-free anti-virus suite?

FYI - If you REALLY want to please customers, wait until they go full screen on a movie then kick them out for one of your pop-up ads.  I can think of no better way to build brand-loyalty.

If the AVG sales team really think popup ads are a good way to advertise they should come to my place and listen to my language every time these stupid time wasting ads appear. They'd soon realise the error of their ways. Their anti-virus program is good, I've used it for years, but, along with many other users, I'm losing patience with AVG on this. Enough is enough.

This is ridiculous! Your response "As we explained earlier our campaign popups couldn't stopped as it is our only way or marketing our products." is not only utter and complete bullshit, it is unacceptable. How about try marketing your products via email or on websites like all the other software companies. Wow, what a concept.

And your statement "If you have our paid version you will be getting the popups for the newly launched program by AVG." is completely outrageous! I paid for your software so that I don't have to deal with ads and reminders and you want to spam me and force popups onto my desktop! By doing this, you are making me not want to use any of your products. In fact, I will be joining the masses and leaving AVG for a better, less intrusive antivirus provider.

And don't bother to reply telling me to submit feedback because I already did, though I don't know why I bothered because from the posts I've seen here, AVG doesn't really care what we have to say. Well, I've got one more thing to say… Goodbye AVG!

I'm also a paying customer–most recently I paid for two years up front–that has been paying for almost 5 years now and I'm also treated to scare-tactic and high sales pressure ads.

Really?

Ads like "Hurry today for this 1-time fix only" or "Your computer may still be at risk–upgrade even further today" (paraphrasing here). The ONLY pop-ups I want from my notificiation tray are statuses of scans, virus warnings, and other related messages relevant to the services I ALREADY PAID FOR.

I thought paying for AVG would remove the onslaught of ads?! This means I'll have to look elsewhere in due time for a security suite that respects me as a paying consumer.

Hi Paul, Graeme, Ken. I understand how it feels. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and we value your opinion. I kindly request you to submit your valuable feedback/opinion in the below link (link removed) and our developers will try to fix it in the upcoming updates. Hello Minenash,
We do understand the repeated appearance of the same message is frustrating and we are working to improve your experience.  Please use the options as a temporary fix for the repeated occurrence of the popup's.
Thank you for your understanding.
