Hello John,
Let's have a look into this together.
Please check your control panel and see whether you have any other AVG products installed on your PC.
Could you share the screenshot of the Task manager showing AVG twice to check and assist further?
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on "Answer" & then click on the "Image" [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Thanks. It took considerable time indeed, but a full reinstall did resolve the issue.
Since today's upgrade, in the Windows Task Manager, under Startup, AVG appears twice, and both entries point to the same file. I looked in the usual places in the registry (current user and local machine, in each case with software Microsoft Windows Current Version Run), and I see it only once. If there's another place in the registry, I don't know of it. I also tried hitting disable on one of the two entries in Task Manager, but to no effect. What's going on, and how I can remove one? Thanks.
Thank you for the screenshot.
We request you to run AVG clear followed by remover tool as mentioned in this article and check the status.

Of couse, I've no other AVG products. Hey, I'm the only one using this computer and have never installedone. And here's the screen shot, although it shows nothing more than what I've already reported.
Bear in mind, too, that it couldn't conceivably be a second AVG program, as I'd already reported that "properties" took me to the same exe.
