E mail encryption problem

Task 'bonnie.theodoru@rogers.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC1A) : 'Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changing the encryption method. Contact your mail server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for additional assistance.'

The same message appears for my e mail address bill.theodoru@rogers.com.

I tried to do the screen shot but the error message wouldn't allow me to so above is a word for word of the error message. The error message appears on my email screen. Once again, there are no issues sending e mails nor is there any issue in logging in directly to Rogers Yahoo Mail. Any suggestions?

Willian,

I know it is annoying when things take time to resolve but please be assured that we shall do our best to resolve it. Could you share the screenshot http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot of that error message to check with it?

Also, I request you to disable two components named Antispam and Email Protection separately and check whether the issue gets resolved or not. To disable each components, go to Menu at the top right -> Settings -> Components -> Email Protection, turn it off and check with the issue. Follow the same for Antispam feature.

Provide us the version of AVG Internet Security you have installed. Awaiting your reply, thank you!

I have an issue that has arisen within the last three to four weeks. It is an intermittent problem and I've tried twice with AVG tech support and once with my Internet service provider to fix it with no success. The internet service provider blames it on AVG. AVG suggest that it's a Microsoft issue. I have Microsoft Outlook mail 2010 as my e mail client. The issue is this. Sometimes I get an error message when downloading e mail to my computer that says there was an encryption error and that the method of encryption was not recognized and operation failed Other times e mail downloads perfectly. There is no issue sending out e mail. If I turn off AVG it works. I'm perplexed. How is it possible to have an intermittent problem like this. I would have thought it either would work or not work. Kind of thinking it's related to the e mail scanner somehow. Any suggestions?

Bill,

I really appreciate your efforts and patience so far.
I have sent you an email, please follow the email instructions to get in touch with the remote support. They will analyze the issue with AVG and fix it with free of cost.

Thanks for the response. Next time it produces the error notification I will take a screen shot. What I do find is if I uncheck the scan SSL connections box in the e mail shield component it works but I don't get the notification on the incoming e mail that it was scaned by AVG. Could this be a clue to my issue?

Thank you for the information.
We couldn't confirm the reason unless we completely analyze the situation hence we recommend you to provide the screenshot of the error message when you receive while downloading the emails and with our remote support we will be able to import certificate and check whether it resolves the issue, if not, we will escalate it senior technical team.

Bill, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot (http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot) here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

The e mail signature does not appear. However I noticed that in the SSL pick it says that if my e mail client has it's own certificates I should import the AVG certificate to my e mail client. I haven't done this but my e mail client does use SSL. Could this be the cause of the intermittent issue. Sorry but I'm sort of a novice with computers.

Thank you for providing complete information about the program version and the issue that you are facing.
Yes, unchecking SSL connection information will help us to identify what is causing the issue.
Please follow below mentioned steps to check the Email signature status on your AVG settings:
Open AVG Internet Security interface, click on > Menu > Settings > Components > Email protection > Customize > Behavior > Check "Insert note into clean message (outgoing)" option.
If it is unticked, please tick the check box and see whether email signature appears when SSL is unchecked.
When the error appears again do contact us with the screenshot of it which will help us to assist further.
