Hi Michelle,
Cryptolocker and its variants are particularly nasty pieces of ransomware https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CryptoLocker
AVG protects against many different types of ransomware, as long as the PC updates frequently.
Can you try creating a Rescue CD or USB from the instructions here: http://www.avg.com/us-en/avg-rescue-cd and scanning your machine?
Hello Michelle.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused. The original Cryptolocker was defeated by a cooperation of international police and security agencies who recovered the secret store of encryption keys and were thus able to help victims to un-encrypt their files. However, new variants appear all the time. Our software blocks many of them but unfortunately you got what is called a "zero day" vulnerability – in other words, you were infected by a very new form of the malware before it had been reported to us and so before we could add its signature to our database and block it.
When AVG detects the malware, it will remove it from your PC, but this will not de-crypt your files. If you have backup copies, you should use them. Unfortunately, it is not possible to decrypt those files. Appreciate your understanding. Thank you.
Some of my e-mail files .pst where encrypted and now it was ask me to pay a ramson to read again my files (1bitcoins!).
I was supposing be protected. What i can do now? Why Avg sofware did not react ?
Files where nominated directly <filename>.pst.vvv
Any chance to decrypt them ?

Hello
I download it and run it
I have now a bootable usb.
My Pc is still working for the moment
Two things
1. I m not a business client but a private
2. I always download last version of all software as WIN 10 or AVG
Scanning report told me "no threat found"
Still a lot of my files are now .vvv
This should not happen as my AVG is always on especially for e-mail.
Practically it seems that AVG is able to detect it (eventually eradicate it) after infection and not to stop it before.
What i should do now ? How I can read my files ?
