Could you check the version of the AVG installed in your PC?
AVG >> Menu >> Settings >> General >> Update
And for the AVG Secure VPN, try changing the servers (locations) and check if you are able to download those certain programs.

each time I start the desktop computer AVG enhanced firewall does not start and this affects running of my computer as everything locks up or slows down. I have followed the instruction given from support but this only worked once.
Second I find that when using AVG VPN and this blocks certain programs. to download I have to stop the VPN.
