This problem still continues, AVG deleting windows system files …
I am a little confused as to whether this supposed Trojan is an actual threat or not. Many websites seem to claim that this is a serious problem that can do serious damage to a system, and since my AVG first discovered it, my computer has been acting oddly. But then other websites claim this is not true and that its detection by an antivirus is a false positive. Everytime I physically remove mfc45.dll from my computer, it always finds its way back upon restarting. I have run every test and even edited my registry in an attempt to curb this issue, but nothing seems to solve it. Can anyone lay this to rest for me?

Hello. I am using only AVG AntiVirus Free Edition. And no, I'm not certain the websites I've read about this issue on are legitimate. However, when my AVG finds this problem it always directs me here: What Is a Computer Virus? | Definition & Types of Viruses .
