Email attachments

Hi Norman,

Our expertise are limited to AVG. We'd like to look into this & help you.
Initially, please clarify whether you experience this issue with Chrome alone or irrespective of browsers.
If you suspect that AVG is causing the issue, you can temporarily disable AVG protection to check.
Also, we see that you've posted another topic regarding the email address not being autofilled on your email account. Please check this Google support article & let us know if it helps.

Norman, we need to identify whether AVG is causing the issue with your email attachments.
Firstly, turn off AVG Secure VPN and check the status.
Post that, turn off AVG Anti-Track add on enabled on your browsers and check the status with email attachments.
Finally, disable AVG protection temporarily as mentioned in this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Disable-AVG-Antivirus) and chec the status.
Keep us apprised which AVG program is causing the issue. We can check move forward with the troubleshooting steps.

When someone sends me an email with an attachment, I used to be able to click on the attachment and view it in the email–a photo, a Word file, an Excel file, etc. If I do that now, the computer goes into 'thinking' mode with a swirling circle and never comes out of it. I do not get an error message. In order to continue, I have to close the email message and open it again. In order to view the attachment, I must download it first. This is very annoying.

I am using a Windows 10 PC, Chrome as my browser. and gmail as my mail program.

AVG Secure VPN was already off, so I did this: I turned it on and that did not help. I then turned it off, and that did not help.

I then turned off AVG Anti-Track and that worked. I can now see the attachments by simply clicking on them.

This also fixed the autofill of the addresses for Gmail.

I have now rebooted my computer and these two issues appear to be working fine.

Thank you for checking that, Norman.
