I understand how to disable this, but why am I getting conflicting  messages?  Is my email being scanned or not?? This only started happening after the latest  AVG update.

You see that messages because there is encrypted connection.

You can check  if emails are scanned by enabling certification (you will see it in emails) in AVG advanced settings.

I keep getting this error flashing in the lower right corner of the screen even though the icon shows I am completely  protected. If I open the AVG program it says email is protected as well. This all started happening after the latest download. It is very annoying since it cripples the keyboard once it appears and I have to click on the "x" and then go back to whatever I was typing. I tried to send this from my PC, but I was not able to type in this area, so I had to use my iPad. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

You disable notifications in Options / Advanced settings …/ untick Email Scanner notifications.
