Apologies, I guess I should have been more specific … what I had intended to pose here was a question asking to confirm that the free AVG for Mac does not scan Email. Is that the case? Given the Windows version includes an Email "shield", a bit surprised it was excluded from the Mac product.
My point about an alternative is that if AVG for Mac does not scan Email, then I'll have to look elsewhere.

AVG AntiVirus for Mac does not include built in e-mail protection. However by scanning the files downloaded from your e-mail client, AVG is able to detect anything suspicious.
I'm looking for a replacement for the current AV product on my Mac. I tried AVG Free but it looks like the Mac version doesn't have an Email "shield" as does the Windows version. Is that the case? Given I used an Email client (vs. webmail), I want to have something which scans Emails.
