Just in case anyone comes across this thread - check your list of emails for special characters like = : ?
I found and removed those (or removed the email) from my list, and then I could import the list into AVG.
If you still get errors, there may be other characters that you need to check for. You could use binary search. Split the list into two shorter lists, and try importing one of the shorter lists. If you get the error, then split THAT shorter list into two, and keep on splitting until you find what is causing the error.
At any stage, if you don't get an error, then whatever is causing the error is in the other half.
Of course, I think we would all like AVG to give a more helpful message, which tells us what line or character is causing problems, to avoid us going through all this trial and error.
Hi Kerry,
Please provide us with (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-upload-a-file-to-our-FTP-server) whitelist export.
Thanks
After upgrading, the email whitelist disappears and import of the previously saved whitelist gives error: "An error occurred when saving the configuration: Format of the provided data is invalid."
Considering this is a recent export of the email whitelist and it is not corrupt, something is wrong with AVG. I hope someone has a fix for this as it appears AVG simply changed the product and made it incompatible with previous whitelist and that is unacceptable unless there is some method for correcting the problem. I certainly cannot manually go through each entry i've put in over the past several years or start over without a whitelist. The email whitelist is (was) one of the things that set AVG apart from all the other products.
