Hello Rory,
Sorry, if you disabling AVG Protection doesn't show any effect on your Windows Live Mail then the issue is not because of AVG.
Did you disable the Firewall component too?
If you have done that then we request you to contact Microsoft support regarding this issue.
Thank you.
Well, I didn't disable all of AVG protection, I only disabled the Email Scanner. Like I said before, the issue only started after AVG was installed. I've also installed AVG on some other computers around the office and they all have the same issue.
The Firewall component isn't active because it's not AVG Pro.
I recently installed AVG Antivirus Protection, and I'm experiencing an odd issue.
I use Windows Live Mail for an email client and since installing AVG, the emails that come into my inbox, a few minutes after I read them, come up as being unread again. I managed a partial workaround by reading the emails through "Unread email" in my Quick Views, but I want to try and fix the issue, not work around it.
I've tried disabling the AVG Email Scanner, thinking that might be the cause, but that had no effect.
Any ideas?

Thank you for the detailed explanation.
Thank you for confirming that you don't have the paid version of AVG.
We request you to completely disable AVG antivirus program temporarily by following the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/1GnMD3N and then check whether the issue persists.
