Emby AVG FRitzbox

Hi

I have done some more testing after installing another server application - PLEX. As a result i think there are 2 problems.  I tried the 2 things you suggest above.

Step 1: I turned off firewall and my streamer could see PLEX but not EMBY suggesting there is an EMBY issue somewhere. When i tuned on the firewall the streamer could not see PLEX.

Step 2: Therefore I tried the change of profiles from public to private as you suggested.  I could not set all profies to private. There is something called unidentified network in the profiles where setting it to private will not "stick". AVG turns it back to public. I tried deleting it but i it came back again (see uploaded screenshot). Anywy, after i set the profile relating to Fritzbox router to private that did not work either.

Conclusion: IF turning off the firewall means streamer can see plex but it cannot see plex with the firewall on, then there is an AVG issue. There is also an EMBY problen i will pursue with them…

Help!!

Hi
i have recently changed my set up installing Fritzbox router and AVG security. I run EMBY media server on a PC which on old set up worked fine connecting to my media streamer (Cambridge audio CXN). With new set up the streamer no longer sees Emby which is running on PC. So i dont know if its AVG blocking port 8096 or its a Fritz box issue. When i look at the Fritzbox dashboard it does not list EMBY. Also EMBY is not showing an IP address, which i think it use to. It just says its on port 8096.

Any body help! Maybe i should have tested streamer at each step but i didnt!

Richard

Hi Richard,

We are sorry to hear this.

Let us check whether AVG is causing this issue.

Please disable the Firewall from the AVG and check for the issue again.

AVG program -> Hacker attacks -> Enhanced firewall -> turn off

If the issue gets fixed, then configure the firewall in the program.

In order to configure Firewall, please follow the below steps:

Open AVG Internet Security -> Enhanced Firewall -> Firewall options -> Network Profiles -> Change the network profiles from Public to Private.

Please get back to us if the issue persists, so that we will check and proceed further.

Thank you.

Hi there, i tried to dragging the bar across so that Plex is now set to all connections… that did not work. All i can see is Tidal… R

I appreciate your efforts. In this case, we will check the application rules of AVG firewall and see if it works.

Open AVG Internet Security, select "Hacker Attacks" tile and click on the drop down next to "Enhanced Firewall", select "Application Rules". Search for "Plex" software and change the bar to the maximum limit to allow this application.

Once this is done, check if the Streamer sees Plex.

Hi i did receive the email but have been out all day. I just tried the latest suggestion which has been sucessful. I dont think remote session needed therefore.

Thank you for your help and thank you for persisting to find a fix. I still have not fixed EMBY but dont think thats AVG as i have been applying same settings to both PLEX and EMBY.

However, am i reducing security by chnaging these settings?

Thank you for getting back to let us know.
We're so glad to hear that your issue has been resolved.
We'd like to confirm that your protection level is not reduced.
