Hello David,
I understand the inconvenience.
After recent AVG update, customer will receive notification as "AVG is in passive mode" when there are other security program installed on your PC.
The update was released to inform customers about the necessity of having a single antivirus program on their computer.
It is not recommended to have two security program running on same PC which might cause various issues for PC at any time.
We do not want our customers to lose any valuable data because of these conflicts with antivirus program.
The conflicting between antivirus program is the same from the beginning but it is our duty to inform customers about the seriousness of the issues that would occur, hence we decided to highlight customers through this update.
AVG now goes in to "Passive Mode" because I have Malwarebytes Premium also installed, this never used to happen but I am not bothered because Malwarebytes is fine.
Problem: When the computer starts Windows informs me that neither Windows Firewall is on nor AVG Firewall are on, so my question is:
Can I start Windows Firewall without uninstalling AVG? I don't mind AVG being around in passive mode if it is not disabling my Windows Firewall which AVG DISABLED on installation
You are most welcome, David.
Thank you for following the steps provided and understanding the situation.
Feel free to contact us if you need further assistance.
Have a nice day!!!
Thank you Balasubramanian!
That is the information which I needed, when Windows was starting it was telling me that I didn't have a firewall in operation and even though I don't use my work computer to go to wild sites, I definitively need a firewall.
With this solution (Malwarebytes not registered in Windows Action Centre it is all back and running OK, AVG says it is working, Malwarebytes says it is working ... Fantastic.
Thanks and regards
David Foot
To make AVG protection active please click on Settings -> Application in Malwarebytes and near the bottom, under Windows Action Center, set the option to Never register Malwarebytes in the Windows Action Center.
If Firewall component is present in Malwarebytes then it is necessary to uninstall it to make windows Firewall active.
If AVG is in passive mode then you should be able to turn on windows Firewall.
