Hello Kristian,
We are sorry to know that you have issues with AVG scan. This can happen, if you have older version of AVG installed in your computer. We suggest you to send us the screenshot(http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot) of the AVG version installed in your computer. If you have latest version, please run AVG repair(avgclick.me/RepairAVG) and see if that fix the issue. Feel free to contact us for further query regarding AVG,
Thank you.
I have had the free version of AVG since 2011, got it on this 'new' computer around 2014 or 15, and I have been having a rather serious problem lately.
I think the first time it happened was either last month, or the moth before.
My problem is, sometimes, when I start a scan(Rootkit or normal full scan) it will randomly scan 219 - 233 items, and permanently stop scanning.
When this happens, the scan can't be paused nor stopped. It just stays there in limbo as it does nothing, while Watchdog starts using up anywhere from around 34% - 60% of my CPU like it usually likes to while scanning. Can't even force-end AVG's tasks in task manager.
The only way I was able to stop it manually last time, was to temporarily disable protection, and turn my computer off. Not restart, full shut down.
I did it this time, and it's still claiming a scan is running. After, the computer turned back on.
In the Reports section, it's still showing the problematic scan as if it's still running, but going to scan options, they can be selected, which normally, can't be done(What I mean is, normally, you can't run two of the same kind of scan at once. This isn't the case. Can still run a new rootkit scan. even with this phantom scan 'running'.) and the scan history doesn't recognize the scan either.
I mostly filed this because I saw no one else with the problem–granted, didn't look too-too much, and it wasn't an isolated incident, as I previously mentioned.
Any solutions at all? While I wait for a response, i'm going to try a combination of things to get it to stop, though I doubt they will work.
The version build is 16. 121. 7859. It updated it's self a few minutes ago and also the other day.
I've never had issues before.
Regardless, if it happens again i'll try the repair thing. If that, dosen't work, i might uninstall and do a clean instal, which i'd rather not do.(also, the reason for sudden italic is, i tried to add italic to 'that' for emphesis, and now the italic thing keeps turning it's self on after every letter… before that, it shut it's self off every letter.)
I would've responded sooner, but the site kept logging me out when i tried to get to this page to check answers.
