Enhanced Firewall Question

Hi Stephen,

We assure you that 'icarus.exe' is a legitimate file related to new version 20.1 release of AVG TuneUp.
When you have AVG firewall to ask your permission to allow each communication happening on your PC, then you would get prompt from Enhanced Firewall to allow it.
If you do not wish to get the prompt each time, please open AVG Internet Security program window.
Click on "Menu->Settings->Full Protection->Enhanced Firewall".
If you see any option as 'Ask', click on it and select as 'Auto-Decide'.
Feel free to contact us if you need further help.

Did you get anything out of this… Suspicius behaviour from asus or avg i don't even know what they want to be calledI made thi post about how many people have to ask about Icarus.exe before someone talks public AVG Community

Hello Stephen,

We regret the inconvenience caused.
We've checked and we can see that our senior team have sent you an email regarding the issue. Please check your inbox/spam for the email and use it to revert to our senior team.
Thanks in advance.

Ok, I have the same issue here and I can see a lot of other posts asking the same question; "is it part of the AVG update or not?" What I am not seeing from AVG is the answer to that question. What I am seeing is an avoidance of answering by stating that AVG will assist people with the issue privately. I find this very concerning. Can we please have an explaination (as would be expected in a Support forum)? If it is that serious then it should be made public.

My AvG enhanced firewall keeps popping up Icarus.exe trying to open a web page.
Scan shows nothing.
If I allow it pops up again and again.
is it safe?

Update from my post of 18 June 20.
I did an online chat session with an agent,  He looked at the file system on my PC.  He downloaded  and ran a program named AVG_SysInfo.exe and collected some files.
Said they (AVG) would study them and get back to me.
Yesterday, 23 June 20, I received an email asking me to run the program 'tulogcollector.exe' located in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\AVG TuneUp'.
It appeared to collect some log files and send them to AVG.
Am waiting now for the next action

Hello, John

We will help you in this.
Could you share the screenshot of firewall pop up you receive?

On my Windows 10 PC, icarus.exe, with a number of other files, is located in this folder:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\AVG\Icarus\avg-tu

icarus.exe is 5,028 KB in size,  Dated 6/10/2020 1:03 pm.

The same day I updated the AVG application.

Hi,  Yes, I have found the email - it went to the "Junk Email"  Folder.
Unfortunately, the email does not answer the question that has been asked by more than one person in this thread on this forum.  Instead it asks me to set up a AVG Remote Support Session.
