A virtually bare-metal (ok, Safe Mode) re-install after
Running AVG's full-removal tool > rebooting > re-installing via the OFFLINE installer
Seems to have sorted it. All done by a friendly AVG tech remotely, so I didn't have to.
All of the front-line tech-support people involved were great - and it seems to have gone!

After upgrading to the latest 20.2.3116 (build 20.2.5130.570) version I've had to switch off Enhanced Firewall after getting an EF Question once every few seconds, rendering my PC useless as they can't be ignored. I couldn't finish typing half a sentence before another one popped up.
Nearly two hours of an AVG support guy remotely on my PC and no answer (he was great) so had to take logs and escalate. Looks to me like the new feature might be a bug!
Anyone else experienced similar?
