Enhanced Firewall switching to wrong profile?

To whom it may concenr,
i have similar issue. Its impossible to set my network profile to private. Each time i turn on the computer again it goes back to "public", no matter what. When i have Public network, i cant work with my program (program for dentists), its blocking communication. So each time i turn on my computer, i need to go to AVG settings and switch it to Private network setting so i can work. Its kind of anoying to be honest, especially for my coleges that are not good with computers… And yes, i tried to disable automatic switching, nothing works. Could you please contact me?
Thank you,
Best regards.

Hi,

I am having similar issue with the firewal. Even though i entered my home wireless connection as a private profile it changes it to public. I even unchecked the activate auto profile changing but it keeps changing it to public everyy single time.

Another problem is whenever a popup warns me that my profile changed to public, i click on change the mode button and the opened windows only contains some kind of strange texts and SecurityFirewall ERROR
Loading settings of firewall failed.

My another issue with your products is your vpn does not work whatever i do.

As short i hated your products and i regret so much for buying your products. I can tell that i am never going to resubscribe your products again.

My system is windows 10 pro updated version as of 01.28.2019

It is indeed disappointing when you have to contact us multiple times about the same issue. We would like to update you again that our level 3 technical team is analyzing the root cause of this issue and they will fix it at the earliest.

This question relates to the Enhanced Firewall component of AVG Internet Security.

I seem to have uncovered a bug. I turned on the setting for "Show notification for automatic profile switching." I have one network profile, for "Home", and it is set to Private. However, I keep getting messages saying that AVG has detected the Home network and switched my profile to "public."

Any advice?

Berkdan, we regret to hear that you too are experiencing this issue.

This issue has been escalated to our higher level technical team for analysis. We will update here once we have an update from them.

Appreciate your patience.

Hi AVG-Team,

now it's more than one month later, I'd like to put a friendly reminder.
Is there anything new about this topic?

Best regards

Horst

Hello Priyanga,

It is happening when I wake the computer from sleep.  This is a Windows 7 Ultimate PC.

Here is the exact text of the pop-up:

"Firewall mode changed.

We detected the network Home andautomatically changed the Firewall mode to Public."

There is a CHANGE MODE button in the pop-up which brings me to the Network Profiles screen.

Thank you,
- Steve

Also - the CHANGE MODE button sometimes brings me to a screen that says "SecurityFirewall ERROR.  Loading settings of SecurityFirewall failed."

Horst, sorry for that. I have sent you an email, please reply to that email with the necessary information to proceed further.

Hi AVG-Team,

since update to version 19.1.3075 (build 19.1.4142.0) the same issue is on all of my machines (Win8.1). The update occured on 13th Jan. 2019. Before this happend, all worked fine, nothing other had been changed on the machines.

Please advice.

Best regards
Horst

Hello AVG-Team,

update 19.3 is installed since 13th of March, but the issue is still unsolved.
Three additionally issues are also still unsolved since installation of update 19.1 on 13th Jan:
-Network profile can not be changed manually to other status private / public
-There are older networks shown in the profile list, that are no more valid / existing
-This non valid profiles can not be deleted

Additionally it set my PC TuneUp Version to a free version without any config posibility.
It could not be registered again to my Ultimate account, had to be uninstalled and new installed.

Please advice to the network profile issues.
Many thanks in advance
Regards

Horst

Horst, we will certainly check this for you.

Please share the screenshot http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot of the AVG interface where you are unable to change the profile to private from public and the screenshot of the older networks on displayed from AVG.

We will check this for you.

Steve, thank you for the information.

Please open AVG Internet Security, click on "Menu->Settings->Components->Firewall->Customize". From here select "Network Profiles" and uncheck the option "Show notifications about automatic profile switching" and check "Enable automatic profile switching". This should fix the issue.

If the issue persists, please let us know and we will assist you further.

Hi Steven,

This isn't the expected behavior. Let's have a look into together.
Is the issue happen after the PC reboot or it occur while program is active?
