To check if AVG is blocking the Secure browser, we'd suggest you to disable AVG protection temporarily.
If disabling the entire protection allows you to access webpages via Secure browser, then disable Enhanced firewall alone by following the steps mentioned below 'Disable individual components' in the above article to check & let us know.

Think Enhanced Firewall is blocking internet access. .Using AVG Secure Search fails but Chrome works. Have looked at admin stuff in AVG Internet Security but am not a techie … any suggestions?
