"Error - Click for more info"

Hello Jonathan,
We regret for the inconvenience caused. Please try to repair the AVG program and check whether it resolves the issue. Please follow the instructions on the article avgclick.me/RepairAVG to repair your AVG program.
Thank you.

(This is still the top hit in Google for this error message so I am reviving a slightly old thread.)
Before bothering to do a repair or uninstall/reinstall on AVG itself, reboot your computer and see if the exclamation point in the system tray goes away.
On my laptop, this error sometimes pops up on AVG after I have hibernated a bunch of times in a row but a regular restart always restores the normal AVG icon.
According to AVG tech support when answering another user who had this problem, "We do understand your concern, we would like to inform you that the exclamation on task bar icon will occur only if we close AVG interface improperly. "
So it makes sense why I am seeing this cosmetic error after a string of hibernations and resumes. It also makes sense why a reboot would "fix" it.
Hopefully this helps someone else and saves them from a repair or uninstall/reinstall cycle!

Hi there -

I'm using Windows 7 Pro, and just installed the free version of AVG AntiVirus. Everything has been scanned without incident, but the AVG icon in the system tray reports, "Error - Click for more info."

When I click on the icon and try to find the error, I can't find it.

Can anyone help? Thanks so much!

Hello K B,

Thank you for sharing the information here.
This is the valuable suggestion to the customers who are facing this issue.
Yes, the exclamation mark on the AVG icon on the system tray is due to various reason and if any of the components of the program are inactive or if the program is not updated for a long period then this exclamation mark will appear and to know that reason we have to open the program interface.
Please feel free to contact us if you need any assistance.
