Error code 0070643

Hello Esther,
We regret for the inconvenience caused. We appreciate your efforts to fix the issue. Please make sure if you had completely removed 'McAfee' and its traces. You can try McAfee remover tool (http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp) and then remove AVG traces using remover tool( http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe ). Please restart to complete the uninstalling process. After restarting your computer, you may need to manually delete any remaining AVG files and also 'search' for a folder "AVG Remover"(usually in 'C' drive) and please delete it manually. And then install AVG Antivirus Free by clicking on http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/AVG_Antivirus_Free_692.exe .Please share the status in this forum. Thank you.

I know this question has been asked and answered before but myself not being the brightest on computers at all, still can not quite understand how to fix the problem. I tried installing avg free on my computer. I run Windows 7 Home Premium. I was able to download the file but during installation I received error code 0070643 and was told it was an unknown error that was preventing it from  being installed. I looked it up online found a few articles such as "Preparing your computer" which was informative but didn't help. I did have McAfee installed so I uninstalled that but that didn't help. So my question to you is,"How do I find out what it is that is preventing AVG from being installed on my computer and how do I fix it. I can't get a remote connection because I am installing the free version which doesn't come with that option. And I can't afford the $20 Premium Support help right now. But I don't have any anti-virus installed on my computer anymore and I don't want to get a virus in the mean time. Any advise would be appreciated. What worked for others?
