Error Code 0xe001f98d

Hello Karthikeyan;
I followed your instructions but I am still unable to install Avg Free. I get the same error message.

The AVG_Clear seemed to run according to the steps you outlined. With the AVG_Remover, when I clicked "Continue", it said it could find no evidence of AVG products on the machine, so I did not get the select all products option. I chose "Run Anyway" let it do it's work, and restarted the machine when it wanted me to do that.

I'm still in a bad position in that this machine has no anti-virus software on it.

Hello;

As suggested, I used the Remote Support Service yesterday. The technician ran an AVG Remover that I have never seen before. After the system reboot, I was then able to install AVG Free.

Thank you for all the help!

Hello Jim,
We are sorry to know that you got this error. We suggest you to follow this steps to completely remove all the traces of AVG from your computer.
Download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe. This tool will help with removing AVG 2017 and its traces.

Open tool
User Account control - click "Yes"
Windows safe mode - click "No" (we cannot recommend use the tool in safe mode, because there is a problem with compability)
Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
Click "Uninstall"
Click "Restart computer"
(1/2)

I've seen a number of fairly recent posts concerning this error code, but none of them seem to say if the problem has been solved or not.
I'm running WinXP SP3 and by accident, AVG Free was uninstalled. I've tried to re-install it, but get stopped by this error code. I've tried using the AVG Uninstaller to ensure all traces of the old installation have been removed from the system. The uninstaller says AVG is not installed and so I've chosen the "Run Anyway" option. Still I can't reinstall AVG Free.
This is a bad situation in that this machine is now running without any virus protection. Is there a solution to this problem?
