To resolve the issue, we suggest you to remove AVG traces using remover tool( http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe ). Please restart to complete the uninstalling process. After running AVG Remover, you may need to manually uninstall any remaining AVG applications and also 'search' for a folder "AVG Remover"(usually in 'C' drive) and please delete it manually. I have used the free versions of AVG for a long time, on multiple computers, never had any real problems. That changed 4 days ago. Long story short, I had to uninstall the version I had that had been working, because it was causing a problem with my win 8.1 laptop. I began getting error codes of all kinds as I tried to uninstall, finally had to delete it bit by bit.
Immediately, I tried to install and I got stuck with Zen, since I couldn't find an earlier version from a site I was willing to trust. The first time, like others have posted, it "installed" and froze/spinning on the "protection free." Eventually, I get the same message, with different error codes, and the link to contact customer support. Ha ha on me! There's no way to do that unless I'm paying.
This is the latest error code, Oxc0070643. Not sure what that means, or why I can't get AVG to download, install, be used any more.
