Hello Richard,
We are sorry to know that. The latest version of AVG program will work fine with Windows XP computers if it has Service Pack 3 installed. The older AVG version will work without the service pack 3, however, the latest version requires this to be installed. Please make sure that you have the Service pack 3 installed in your computer. If not, you need to contact Microsoft and get this installed, after which you will be able to use AVG without any issue.

I have a  HP Compaq laptop computer running XP.  It has had AVG protection for 4 years and has always run smoothly. I renewed my subscription in December and ever since the computer runs slowly. I rang AVG Customer care and spoke to Zerald Dominice who was very helpful. I purchased a PC Tune up and downloaded it. However, it will not install the program, saying the system is incompatible and showing Error Code: Oxe001f96c. I also purchased a lifetime AVG Installation disc which is being posted to me. Will this disc also not install with this error code? Please advise.

Thank you for your prompt reply Karthikeyan.My service pack is version 2 hence the reason the AVG download wouldn't install. I am struggling to get an upgrade from Microsoft. Please could you advise me on a secure, safe site that I could go onto to download a version of XP Service pack 3. I don't want to go onto an unsecure site and download a virus. Thank you in anticipation.
