Error message every time after sleep

Recently I started getting the following popup error message every time I wake the computer after sleep: "Sorry, we couldn't reach our update server,. Please make sure you are connected to the Internet and try again." This never used to happen. It seems like AVG now tries to connect immediately when the compter wakes, before the system has enough time to restore the network connection (it takes a few seconds.) Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
