Hi Wayne,
I do understand the inconvenience you have faced, I will certainly help you with it. AVG will operate in passive mode if it detect any conflicting antivirus application installed on your computer. Please verify and remove any other antivirus or anti malware applications to resolve the issue.
Passive/active option presented. Chose active and I keep getting message saying that I am still in passive and not protected because another antivirus is running so I press fix now and seem to be in a "loop" where nothing is fixed and the same message keeps on being repeated. I tried "repair" but that made no difference to my problems. Any thoughts on this issue? Is it just me or are others having the same problem?
Earlier question now solved. "Malwarebytes free" updates to a 14 day trial period of the paid for product which automatically enables web protection. Disabled Malwarebytes web protection and problem solved. Should have thought of this before posting my question!
