Thanks Zbynek, I deleted history.xml and a new Event History log has started. It was not possible to delete the DB files even with AVG disabled because they were "open in another program." They were all modified today.
Probably there was an AVG 2014 program update that day, although current build 4592 apparently wasn't installed until 5/19/2014. I'm running Vista 32-bit SP2. Any suggestions other than uninstall/reinstall your buggy but basically functional software?
Hi Every one…
I have just noticed my event log failed on the 18th January 2015 so followed the advises above and deleted the history.xml file but didn't try to deleted the other two .db files.
Everything now looks good as both the event log and the stats.db have both updated but the detection.db didn't.
I presume that it will when a detection is made but in any case will keep an eye on it for rthe next few weeks.
regards all

Hi Bruce,
For help on your issue you can try deleting:
c:\ProgramData\AVG2014\DB\detection.db
c:\ProgramData\AVG2014\DB\stats.db
c:\ProgramData\AVG2014\log\history.xml
Thanks
