Since the update yesterday, AVG uses all spare CPU capacity on my desktop meaning that the CPU fan is running flat out continuously. This is completely unacceptable behaviour. I have tried a repair but that has not improved matters. If there is no solution I will have to remove the software and demand a refund of my payment!

To confirm are you having 2 AVG Protection in the Control panel? If so please run the remover tool http://files-download.avg.com/util/tools/AVG_Remover.exe to remove the AVG protection old version from your computer to fix the issue.

There ere two instanmces of AVG running - how that can occur is beyond me. Maybe you ask your developers to make a simple check during installation to ensure this cannot happen. Removing one instance has also allowed a p[articular program to connect to the Internet where it could not previously.
