Exclamation Point in AVG icon in taskbar

Hello Wendy,

I understand the inconvenience.
Let me clarify all the concerns that you raised here.
The exclamation mark on AVG system tray icon is a known issue and confirmed as bug.
The fix will be released through update as soon as possible. However, you can try (repair) of AVG Internet Security to check whether it resolves the issue.
Regarding, last computer scan message, program is designed only to update the scan done manually from the interface and not for other scans like Deep and Schedule.

I have already tried the repair for AVG in the Control Panel but it didn't take away the exclamation mark.  As for it being a "bug" and being addressed in an update, every time I get an update, it ends up being an old product, Zen or the free one, when I have purchased a 2-year subscription.

Here are two screen shots as mentioned above showing the box is unselected for receiving offers for AVG products.  The other is the message that keeps popping up in Windows notification area (the icon with a monitor down in the right corner of the taskbar) saying some programs may be slowing your computer.  (See right side of screen shot). User-added image

About a week ago a gold exclamation point with a circle around it appeared inside the AVG icon in bottom taskbar and has been there ever since.  When I open AVG it says I'm fully protected, nothing needs updating so what's it for?  Also, it always says last computer scan done xxx number of days ago, even though it's scheduled to do a whole computer scan on a daily schedule, which it does so why does it say it has been days since last scan?  The only way that changes is if I manually do a scan.  Why isn't it recognizing that it's doing a scheduled whole computer scan every day?  With this version of AVG Internet Security I don't like that you can't see the results of the scan or even when it was done other than a message no threats detected and everything looks good.  In previous versions you used to able to see the scan reports and when they were done under "reports".  Also, I have seen many complaints about pop-ups even with paid products.  AVG says to get rid of pop-ups you deselect the box to receive such stuff in the settings but that doesn't do any good.  I removed the check mark in that box ages ago and still get annoying ads to buy more of their products.  Also I am always getting that pop-up on the right side of my screen for notifications "some programs are slowing down your computer, click here to put them to sleep".  There is no place to click and nothing comes up but I'm sure if it did, it wants me to buy something else! I have had many tech support sessions on so many issues with this product to no avail, and strongly thinking of switching to something else.  The answers are always the same, they are working on that issue, thank you for your patience, yada yada yada . . .

Hello Wendy,
My apologies for any inconvenience caused. We are aware about exclamation mark issue and our development team is working on a fix. The issue will be fixed in next AVG Internet Security version update (not virus definition updates).
Your computer will be protected from all types of malware, as the issue is only with AVG icon interface.
Best regards,
Alok.

The reports on program interface was removed in the latest version release considering the product performance.
In the current version, report file has to be setup and the logs can be viewed from C:\Program Data\AVG\AV\Reports folder.
If you would like to provide a feedback regarding these changes, open AVG Internet Security, click on "Menu–>About–>Submit Feedback".
The campaign popups shouldn't appear if the box is unchecked for "Show campaign offers for other AVG products".
Hence, to analyze further, provide the (screenshot) of popup that says "Slowing down your PC".
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

What about the other issues I mentioned? If you look back, what you just said was already answered by "Bala". He also suggested sending a screen shot, which I did, as to the problem of getting the constant message in my Windows 10 notification area that "some programs are slowing down your PC. Click here to put them to sleep". There is no place to click and even if there was, it's just another way to get me to upgrade to the paid version of PC Tune-up.  I also sent a screen shot showing that I have unchecked the box not to allow pop-ups for other AVG products but I still get them all the time, mostly to buy PC Tune-up.

Wendy,

You are getting this popup messages since you have installed the trial version of AVG PC TuneUp on your computer. Please open the PC Tuneup program and optimize your PC for faster performance.

If you don't want to get this popup messages, you can uninstall AVG PC TuneUp from the control panel.
