Hi Dinesh. I uninstalled and reloaded. Still doesn't eclude the files. And in deep scan it always seems to stop at 44%. Mac scan works though. I'll have another go after the hoidays. Thanks John
I attached the screenshot of the excluded files in my previous message. I think this is what you need now? Best wishes John
I am using AVG basic with Mac OS Catalina. Although I have added some folders to the exclusion list in preferences, to prevent them being scanned, for some reason the Scan still scans all the files and seems to ignore the exclusion list. Has anyone else experienced this, or can anyone help sort it out? Thanks JJ

Thanks Dinesh. I found it because the deep scan window which shows files being scanned includes those on the exclusion list. No message from AVG. AVG versioin is 19.4 (5f0c3f1bbf52). Hi John,
We're glad to look into this & help you.
Please let us know how you found that the files added in exclusions are being scanned. Did you receive any message from AVG regarding those files?
Also, let us know the version of AVG Antivirus on your MAC & share us the screenshot of the exception list for better clarity.
Thank you for your understanding, John. Please try reinstalling & let us know the outcome.
If you exclude a folder, then the files in it should also be excluded from being scanned.

Appreciate your efforts in sharing us the screenshots & notifying this to us, John. If the path shown during the deep scan & path in the exceptions list matches, then it isn't the usual behavior.
In this regard, we'd suggest you to uninstall & reinstall AVG antivirus once to check if it helps.

I'll do that today thanks Dinesh. One question though: If I put a folder in the exception list does it mean that all the files in that folder are excluded? or do I have to add every file to the list individually? Best wishes John
Thank you for the information, John.
Please provide us the screenshot of Deep scan showing the files which are excluded to assist further.
John, this isn't the actual behavior.
