Exit AVG Internet Security

Hello Robert,
I understand that you want to disable AVG Internet Security temporarily. You can follow the instruction to enable/disable AVG Passive mode. Passive Mode disables all active protection, such as Shields and Firewall.
Best regards,
Alok.

Hi,
I do not have anything abou Passive mode in my Troubleshooting menu. I use Win XP so it may not be available here. I'll just use the tray icon method.

Thanks,

Is there an option to exit the program entirely and later restart it? I do real-time video capture amongst others and would like stop any streaming interruptions from AVG (attempting updates, checking files etc). I only want to exit it when I'm off line then restart it before enabling my network. When I used Trend Micro the tray icon had an exit selection and you could restart it by running the .exe to reload it. This prevented video mosaicing in video capture.

Thank you for the information, Robert.

Under Troubleshooting tab-> go to Passive mode-> Turn it on. It will disable your AVG temporarily. Else, you can disable it by right click on AVG icon under system tray and turn off your Protection.

Hello Alok,
Thanks for you reply. The settings page I have is quite different than the one shown in the user manual - probably because I shamefully neglected to mentiion the this is on Windows XPsp3. I found Settings>Components with a number of separate entries for File Shield, Ransonware Shield etc where these features can be individually enabled/disabled. I also note that when you click on the tray icon, the box allows you to Disable Protection - does this do what I want?

Robert

Thank you for explaining the situation with a screenshot.
Yes, do try disabling AVG from system tray icon.
May I know the version of AVG Internet Security program installed on your PC?
Open AVG Internet Security, click on "Menu–>About" to check version details.

Hello Robert,
Yes, you can also right click on AVG system tray icon and toggle the On/Off slider to disable AVG protection. Regarding passive mode option: May I know if you able to find "Troubleshooting" button in AVG Internet Security settings?  If not, then please share a screenshot of the AVG Internet Security settings page to assist you further. You can post the screenshot here on your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
Best regards,
Alok.
