Hi Justin,
We are sorry to hear this.
We will help you with the additional support.
Are you able to access the other applications?
Did you update the Windows recently?
Is the internet connection stable after this issue?
Keep us posted.
So last night I ran AVG Tune Up for the first time. After running through everything, I was prompted to restart my laptop. Upon rebooting, it stayed on the ASUS screen and had a countdown percentage til the effects took place. After it finished, the screen turned black, except for my mouse cursor. A few programs that automatically start up popped up and I could go Task Manager to open.
After doing some troubleshooting, I made sure the command prompt or Explorer.exe was still good, which it was, and tried to manually start it. It did not start. I tried to boot in Safe Mode by left clicking the Restart button and holding shit, and I get the error message:
LogonUI.exe Application Error.
The instruction at 0xc9a01101 referenced at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read.
Click OK to terminate the program.
I tried starting Safe Mode from the boot and it asked me for a password, and the password is no longer what it has always been.
I have managed to get Chrome to open, but cannot download any Windows drivers because every download is Blocked, presumably by AVG. I cannot open AVG through Task Manager to change any settings.
I am very upset as from what I gather I will have to buy an entirely new Windows disc and key. So now not only am I out of a laptop and all my data, but also out the $150+ to get a new copy of Windows.
I will hold off on doing that for a few days and hopefully hear back from support on how to proceed with this. Perhaps a remote connection from someone at Tech Support?
I have only been able to access Chrome. I was able to get an internet connection by plugging in directly to ethernet since I can't access the wifi settings.
I have not updated Windows for a while. There is a yellow text notification to update when I first turn on my laptop and it is at the login screen. I tried to download the update from Microsoft, but all downloads are being blocked. They will download, then at the very end it will stop and say Failed - Blocked. I'm assuming from AVG. I can't access AVG to check either, but I've never had that problem before.
