ExpressVPN not working with AVG

I recently bought ExpressVPN which works perfectly with my other devices (Mac and Android), neither of which has AVG installed. However, while the VPN is showing as being connected to the external server, the site that I am trying to access will only load the international version and not the national one, which is geolocked.
Support in the VPN seemed to suggest that it is the DNS settings in AVG that is causing the problem. How do I disable DNS on AVG so my VPN will work?
Thanks for any help with this

Hello Michael,

AVG Internet Security doesn't control or alter the DNS settings.
To confirm this, you can disable AVG Internet security and check the status with Express VPN.
Click on "Menu–>Settings–>Troubleshooting–>Passive Mode" of AVG Internet Security.
Use On/Off slider to turn off the protection temporarily.
Keep us posted.

Michael, we need to find which component is causing this issue.

Please open AVG Internet Security installed on your computer, click on "Menu->Settings->Components", from here disable each component one at a time and see disabling which component fix the issue.

Once you identify which component is causing this issue, please add this VPN to the exception list https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-exclude-file-folder-or-website-from-AVG-scanning and check if that fix the issue.

I did exactly that earlier and again now. The VPN works perfectly when AVG is in Passive mode but not at all when in Normal mode. How can I have full anti virus protection and get full use of my VPN i.e. be able to view geolocked sites?

Thanks for your help and coming back so quickly
