Failed AVG Process vprot.exe

Hi guys,
I have exactly the same problem here and I have done all the steps just like Nathan but I can't get rid of the Web TuneUp… Help please!!!

Hello all,

There's a very simple solution for this in Windows.  (Don't know how to do it in Mac or other OS systems, sorry.)  Go into msconfig (In Windows 7, click the start button, then in the search bar at the bottom type "msconfig" and then click on it when it comes up above the box.  In Windows 10, press Win-r, type "msconfig" and then press enter.).  Click the "startup" tab, find the "vprotect application" and uncheck it.  Then restart your computer.  It shouldn't open on startup anymore.  If it persists, then do the manual uninstall as noted above, but also go into msconfig and uncheck all AVG processes under the startup tab.  Then when you restart your computer, those files should no longer be "open in another program" and you should be able to delete them.  (It's also a good idea to check the startup tab periodically, and uncheck any processes you don't want to start automatically when your computer boots up.  This is especially important if your computer is taking forever to boot up; more often than not there's a program that is trying to open on startup but hanging.)

I get this popup everytime I start my computer. I believe I have sent a million reports already. Please help.

Would you like to send the report to AVG for analysis?

Nathan, I understand this must be upsetting and I appreciate your efforts so far. I have sent you an email, please follow the email instructions to get in touch with the remote support. They will analyze the issue with AVG and fix it with free of cost.

I've been having exactly the same problem and have followed the above instructions to the letter. No luck. I've manually uninstalled AVG and reinstalled it. No luck.

There is a AVG Web TuneUp showing in my programs file and it will NOT allow me to uninstall it - I'm beginning to suspect it must be where the problem lies. What can I do?

I’ve had the exact same issue as above.

I used the AVG remover, which did absolutely nothing and didn’t even uninstall the software. Why have removal software, which doesn’t remove anything?

I then manually uninstalled the software and restarted. The vprot.exe still displayed despite having just uninstalled AVG. When I go onto my Program Files (x86), it won’t let me delete the AVG or AVG Web TuneUp folders saying they are open in another folder. When I open Task Manage, AVG Service Process is still running and despite clicking End Task, doesn’t do anything and continues to run. I then went back to Program and Features via the Control Panel and noticed that AVG Web TuneUp won’t uninstall, even when running the uninstaller.

I never choose to install AVG Web TuneUp, it just appeared in my browser 1 day - so thank you AVG for the bloatware. I’ve never had a virus on this computer, but AVG Web TuneUp seems to have changed that.

I removed AVG TuneUp from my browser months ago, when I first noticed it installed. The only thing remaining are the files on my C drive which I'm unable to delete because it's open in another progam.

Hello Sarah,

I am sorry to know that you are facing the same issue.
I request you to delete the "AVG Web TuneUp" folders from the C:\ drive–> Program Files and Program Files x86 folders.
Restart the PC once and check whether you are able to remove the entry of AVG Web TuneUp from control panel.
