Not an answer - just an aside about my previous request for help.  I am running a new PC with Windows 10.

Hi Paul
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Please have a look at the article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en_US&urlname=Update-has-detected-running-installation-message-when-updating-AVG) for update issue.
And to uninstall AVG PC Tune up, please run the remover tool by clicking the following link (http://avgread.me/1LrdsaA) and select AVG PC Tune Up in the provided options. After uninstall restart your computer to complete the uninstallation.
After restart , Go to C drive and type "AVG Remover" in the search tab.
Select the file and press "Shift+Delete" to get the file permanently deleted.

Hello Gurus:  I just wanted to say thank you for all of your help.  I have now been able to update my AVG and uninstall the Tune Up programme.  However you may want to look at the link for : http://avgread.me/1LrdsaA

I noticed that my AVG update last worked on 1st October.  I have attempted to get it to update but it fails with an error message UPDATE FAILED:  Update detected running installation.  Complete that installation before starting update.

I have checked and have noticed that the PC TuneUp icon is showing an "error" notice telling me that the free trial period has finished.  I do not want to purchase the pack.   I have tried to uninstall the PC TuneUp but it will not uninstall.   

I tried to unistall AVG and reinstall but again, the same messagte about detected a running installation comes up.

I have always used AVG Free and thank you but I can't update now.  Please advise best way forward - without having to buy the TuneUp pack.
