Failure to install AVG Free 2015

Regretfully I have had to abandon AVG Free because of this problem of up-grading by installing AVG Free 2015.  Having uninstalled AVG Free 2014 I installed Avast Free.  This went with no problems and is now working well. The inital scan of my whole system revealed many problems not picked up previously by AVG.  I suggest that, if the up-grading procedure from 2014 to 2015 is not made easier by AVG, many loyal clients will follow my example.

I am >70 and not a techie.  I use AVG Free 2014 fine on my Advent 5313 laptop running Vista with 200GB hard drive and 2048 DDR2 RAM.
I have been prompted by AVG to upgrade to 2015. Each time I try I get error code 0xE0018D0A failed to download files and 0xC0070643 General internal error.  MSI failed to install.
I have tried disabling my Windoes defender but that doesn't work.  I am my account administrator so that's not the problem.
Can someone help me please?  I'm reluctant to uninstall AVG 2014 since I'd be left without a virus checker.
