Failure to install, error code 0xC0070643

Hi - I'm afraid I don't know how to join an existing thread, so am asking my own question. I cannot get AVG free to install on my new Windows 10 Lenovo Yoga Pro 3. I have uninstalled McAfee, turned off Windows Firewall, turned off Windows Defender (although when I have to restart the laptop as part of the AVG install it comes back on - I immediately turn it off again but can see no way to keep it off). I have repeatedly uninstalled AVG and tried installing it afresh after each thing I try and I have even got a much more computer literate friend to try to no avail. It loads to about 98% but eventually tells me the install has failed, error code 0xC0070643, description Event exec-finished. Can anyone tell me - in an idot's guide step-by-step way - how to resolve this please? It's driving me insane.

I have the same problem and the above doesn't work for me.

I have a new Acer Aspire and have uninstalled the MacAfeeanitvirus protection.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Komal (and Maria) - have followed your instructions but it did not work. It still fails to finish the installation, with same error code and same description. Any other ideas please?
