Fake website component stops virgin child protection from working

Hello Paul,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I would like to inform you that both services are dependent on DNS records so you will have to choose one or the other. The Virgin Media can protect you from fake websites and there are other layers of security enabled in AVG as well. You have to use any one of the applications (AVG or Virginmedia) to enable the option"fake website".

Hello Paul,

I understand that AVG Fake Web site component stops you from accessing a genuine Virgin media web site.  Please send the URL of the web site that is being blocked to AVG https://www.avg.com/submit-sample for analysis. We will analyse the same and add it to global whitelist. For now, you can add this URL to AVG exception list http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-make-exclusions-from-all-scans-and-shields from your computer and check if you are able to access this website with Fake Website component enabled.

If you face any difficulties, feel free to contact us.

Hi. Some weeks ago the web safe feature supplied by virginmedia stopped working, meaning my children had free access to all website even though on virgin account it showed it as still working. I had recently installed  a win 10 update, creators anniversary and avg internet security had updated. I thought that probably windows had altered some settings and that this was the cause of it stopping. After much searching on the web and trying various options I was unable to get it working again until today. Looking through the components section, I disabled the fake website component and the Virgin websafe and child safe apps now work again.
My question is: How can I switch the fake website element back on and still continue to protect my children?

Thanks for your reply. Sorry it appears I havent made it clear what the problem is. I can connect to Virginmedia and all websites fine. Virginmedia are my internet providers. With their package is an app called websafe and another called child safe which stops inappropiate sites being viewed when using my broadband and has done so for years. This stopped protecting my children about a month ago. Avg internet security was updated at the same time on my computer. After much research it would appear that the problem is DNS related, but I have been uable to resolve the issue. Today I turned off the feature called 'Fake Wedsite' found under 'Components' in AVG Internet security and the problem was resolved. Inappropiate sites were again blocked by my ISP. When I enable 'fake website' again - the sites are no longer blocked. I wish to keep this enabled and protect my children by using web safe app. Is this possible?? Paul
