forgot to say that I had been on my.yahoo.com earlier in the day as usual, and had no warning then. I visit it multiple times a day usually, and haven't had any warnings till tonight. and of course a little later now tonight closed/reopened browser in between visits) it's not giving me the warning. reloaded my.yahoo a few times now and waited minutes, and nothing. I always get the weird stuff…
so sorry about the pic options remark, I got the 'browse files' option now when doing this post. so here's the screenshot, good luck. time for bed, will check for a reply tomorrow…
Using AVG FREE 2017, windows 7 Pro on desktop, firefox 52.0.1.
tonight, 3-22, I'm getting an AVG popup warning for malware on https://my.yahoo.com/ . It says it's quarantined, but when I go to the quarantine file, it says there's nothing in there. It will keep popping up again and again even after closing it, if I stay on my yahoo home page. Had another warning on another trusted site the other day, and it was not in the quarantine folder/file either. What gives?
the thing it's warning about is https:// fo.ds.ats.member.g02.yahoodns.net, then lists my Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe file.
I have a screenshot, but it's a pain to get it uploaded, but can do that later if needed (WHY isn't there a way just to attach a saved image to the post here by now?)
This trend started just the last few days, after updating to Firefox 52, so maybe that has something to do with it, but I'm pretty sure these are false positives. But why aren't they stored on my quarantine folder when it says that's what it's done with them?
Hello Charles,
We are really sorry to hear that. From your description, it seems to be a false positive issue. Since you have already installed the new version, we request you to update the virus definitions part once again in AVG Free version and do reboot your computer once, then check whether you are still getting this pop ups? If so, please do send us the screen shot for the pop up you are receiving still after the reboot so that we could assist you further using the article: http://avgread.me/1aZxsAV.
Thank you.
Hello Charles,
We apologize to hear that. In this case, we suggest you to repair the AVG Free version once and then restart your computer using the article: http://avgread.me/1BVxDSY
After the restart, please do check the quarantine and let us know if you are able to see it.
Thank you.
still awake… already did the definitions update, did it again just now, and nothing new for last 10 hours. checked my.yahoo.com again and still no warnings after 10 minutes, so at the moment things are ok. perhaps yahoo has some code glitch and they got it fixed that fast.
But the other thing-- why does AVG tell me it's quarantined something and it's not in there?
before I did the repair I checked for updates, went to my.yahoo and still no warning today. did the repair on both 'AVG' and AVG' Protection', rebooted, checked the quarantine and it's still empty. Went back to my.yahoo and still no more warnings, so that's good.
so will see if I get any future quarantined items and if those show in the quarantine file, but so far I've had 2 different ones and neither were in there.
