In March 2020 AVG said QRES.EXE (a small program to change screen resolution; I use it many times a day, in batch files) was infected and quarantined it. I didn't know how to create an exception, so I renamed it to QRESX.EXE and it worked. I don't think I reported it.
Now in Sep 2022 it happened to QRESX.EXE. But now while working with AVG remote tech on another false positive (for Mailwasher Pro) I learned how to create exceptions in AVG. One was created for both QRES.EXE and QRESX.EXE. Now it works. That's two false positives for the programmers to work on. They both have exceptions in AVG, but I doubt that only these two programs will get infected. So I'm happy.
Hi John,
I understand that AVG reported two applications as threat and you suspect this as false positive. I'm glad to hear that you managed to add this files to exception list. If you haven't submitted false positive yet, you can click on this link https://www.avg.com/en-us/false-positive-file-form to submit false positive.
