Hello Dot,

I can confirm your findings . Happened on two PC.s - on Creators Update. AVG Internet Security found two instances of wextract.exe on both PC's and flagged them in Virus Fault as Trojan horse SCGeneric1.IMO. VirusTotal flagged only by AVG, so agree it could be a false positive.
Dot,
Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. It could be a False Positive, however, we request you to submit the sample request using this link: https://secure.avg.com/submit-sample so that our developers will check and work on it.
Today AVG free decided to flag wextract.exe in system.
On Virus total, detection ratio is 1/60 (Only AVG gives a flag).
False or not?
Win 10 pro fully updated.
Thanks!

Hello Dot,
False positive detections are often occurs in Anti-Virus industry. They occur when a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus product, so sometimes it red flag the genuine files which you have been used for a long time. In such case, please submit the file sample and add the file to exceptions. You will be notified once the submitted sample is analyzed, click on the link to show how to add exceptions : http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-make-exclusions-from-all-scans-and-shields

Just ran AVG Internet Security, with problem files wextract.exe removed from Vault. All okay now so 'false positive' problem has been fixed by AVG. Thanks Dot for initial reporting of problem.
Dot, Please note that AVG do not answer back with results as the files are being checked automatically.
